Motegi is a complicated place, which means our experienced advice will be quite useful for anyone seeking to attend this remarkable event. Remember, even if you are not on our package, we have a team at the circuit and can help you with any issues.
Go VIP if you can -- it is about the best value VIP of the season with open Paddock access, pit lane walks, service road tours and generally great access.
For tickets you get the most view from the main stands A&B : the natural valley the track lies in gives you panoramic sights (but you will want binoculars). A is higher and is also covered, B gets you closer to the track. The C/E grandstands are unreserved, but afford good views on the most exciting corners -- the final chicane. A lot of action here makes this the spot serious Japanese aficionados hang out. Lots of atmosphere, but the TV view is quite far (the binocs again!) They build a temporary stand right on the first corner - this is excellent viewing and ticket holders may also go to B. There is also a stand on the 5th corner - another exciting part of the track. This is closer to the actual track than most stands, and the ticket includes parking, a programme and a box lunch on Sunday, as well as B stand access. One reason for this however is that the stand is quite far away and you will need to take the shuttle bus to get back to the main area.
For our money, the best value is grandstand Z on the infamous 90 degree corner. Here you see the bikes in heavy downhill braking from the longest straight of the circuit. Much action here; and you are quite close to it, with a good TV view.
All grandstand tickets also permit access to the Super Speedway Arena on Sunday. This is the area just alongside the main straight (actually on the speedway tarmac). You can't actually see much track from here, but is great for getting close to the podium and is also where special events occur, such as rider signatures.
Finally, Motegi is one of the few circuits where you can purchase a paddock pass. If you are not going VIP, we strongly recommend this. Passes are valid for one day only, you may buy a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday pass. The paddock gets VERY crowded on Sunday, consider Saturday or even Friday (or get two!) We will give an informal tour of the paddock on each day for those with passes, we of course know many of the Japanese and other riders.
To summarise: Go A if you are not sure (keeps you out of sun and rain - both were issues in 2007!); the corner stands closer to the bikes and braking; Z is a great spot, but you are rooted to it; Corner 1 also allow you to see some race from the B stand; and in any case get a paddock pass.

For the ultimate experience of MotoGP world wide, there is no substitute for the VIP Village. The VIP suite is situated on top of the grandstands in an enclosed box with panoramic views and CCTV. You have free access to the Paddock so great opportunities to meet riders and see 'behind the scenes'. Since so few VIPs make it to the event, we have the VIP Village practically to ourselves! This means no competition for the service road tours - a stunning way to get around the track and see things close up. No crowds at the pit lane walks mean you get to see right in -- uniquely in our experience, most of the riders were in the pits (Rossi fans were in heaven!). VIP tickets also give you free access to the entire circuit, including the terrace at the start grid. You WILL feel privileged! Most of our customers last year got an opportunity to sit on the pit wall for the start of various races (pictured at start of MotoGP with Mattia Passini standing)

Motegi circuit is a natural 'bowl' and many of the higher seats (A/B/C/E and VIP) have great panoramic views. You really want to bring binoculars to this one (many places to purchase at the track!) All tickets are valid all three days. You may also add on a Paddock pass which gives you full access to paddock and pit roof. If you don't go VIP, this is the next best thing - strongly recommended! Our guides will be happy to take you around the paddock and introduce you to a few people and see the pits. All seats are reserved apart from the C/E stands (in photo) and general admission. All grandstand seats permit you to sit anywhere on Fri & Sat. See our ticket description for advice on individual stands. If you need to park (because you aren't on our package) then purchase a parking pass, otherwise you might end up in one of the lots miles away. (Shuttle buses service all the car parks, m/c parking us free) |
