Gran Premio D’Italia 2012: 15 July
The MotoGP at Mugello is one of the blue ribbon events on the MotoGP calendar and a must-see for any aficionado. The twisty, hilly Tuscan circuit is attended by the most enthusiastic MotoGP fans on the planet – the Italians! At the end of the race the track is opened and fans converge in their thousands in front of the podium – usually to watch hero Valentino Rossi standing in the centre. Speaking of whom - the Doctor made it seven in a row here; we finally saw his streak ended in 2009 by the 'young pretender' Casey Stoner, but happily for his fans Rossi still made the podium. 2010 was made historic by Rossi's first major career injury! His 2011 season is best not mentioned; everyone is pinning their hopes on this one! This will be the Italian on the Italian Bike at the Italian GP.
Spectator viewing at Mugello is very good, although crowded in some sections. For this reason a Grandstand seat is strongly recommended – the Poggio Secco is our favourite with long panoramic views over the curve of the same name, but if you want to catch the awesome straight (about the fastest in MotoGP), start grid and the mad podium rush, opt for the covered Centrale. For our money however it is the new Biondetti stand that has the best overall experience with views in many directions! All have TV screens.
But when only the best will do, we offer our private Pole Position Club VIP on the pit roof featuring full catering in a terrace overlooking the main straight and pits; CCTV, hostesses pit-lane walks and paddock tours. Guests in the past have included British rider Danny Webb, BBC commentator Steve Parrish, Marco Simoncelli, Cal Crutchlow, and the legendary Giacomo Agostini. Saturday night we are offering an incredible experience of the Paddock Saturday night, with dinner with a MotoGP team!
But if we are talking parties, then Mugello wins the gold medal! Friday we repair to a countryside castle jointly with LCR Honda, Playboy bunnies and many riders and team members for an unforgettable reception, dinner and dancing! Included with ALL packages, and only otherwise available to our VIP customers.
We love Florence and base our packages there. Our Classic package in a well-loved 3* hotel is superb value for money. A great biking destination, our hotels all offer secure bike parking. Our Superior is in a 4* Villa hotel in a Florentine suburb. Both packages feature optional Friday track transfers, Friday opening party, Sat/Sun transfers. We also offer our Sunday Florentine evening winding-down dinner (optional extra) which is always a great way to end the weekend... NEW this year, we offer a City Package in the heart of Florence. Like the Classic, but in an awesome location, this is for Florence lovers!
Saving the best for last, our top package is the sublime Deluxe Package in a stunning 15th century Palazzo in the heart of old Florence. With only 11 rooms, this is a very exclusive package. Join us Thursday for a bottle of vintage wine in the impossibly secluded garden in the midst of the old city of Florence, a VIP reception on Friday is followed by our opening party; Saturday we take you to the track in our VIP shuttle; and on Sunday you can bypass the worst traffic in MotoGP in our optional helicopter transfers! Truly the creme de la creme!
