Indianapolis Grand Prix 2010
When we departed Indianapolis in 2009, we immediately shot off an email to Dorna with our nomination of Indy as the 'Best MotoGP' of 2009. While other events subsequent to it in 2009 were good; in our opinion all event organisers should come to Indianapolis to see how the real pros do it! The town and people are incredibly welcoming. Despite it being a mad race weekend, prices remain reasonable and service friendly. The track facilities are second to none with great food, drink (well, we do admit they need to stock better beer!), tons of merchandise; and the fascinating Grand Prix museum.
The weekend is bikes, bikes and more bikes. In case you don't get enough bike action at the track; meander downtown to the vicinity of Meridian Street where they section off a couple of blocks and only permit bikes in. You will see everything from new 1098S's to the most outrageous street rods and customs. And if it is more racing action you crave; DON'T miss the thrilling Indy Mile dirt track classic Saturday night.
This is the only event in the USA featuring the 125cc and new Moto2 junior classes. Grandstand viewing is excellent; best value is the Turn 7 terrace (lots of action on this chicane), and the penthouse A at the entrance to the first turn. With good TV views all around, and very liberal access to standing areas this is a great spectator circuit.
However as good as the stands are, this is one we really urge you to dig in and go VIP. This is the top MotoGP VIP Village of the season, with a beautiful enclosed a/c suite atop the pits (we were above Ducati), CCTV and pit lane walks (touch the 'bricks'!). The food is gourmet quality and they bring in professional bar tenders! But best of all you get full open access to the paddock. With little competition from 'ordinary' spectators (you cannot purchase a paddock pass as you can in Laguna); this is a rider-spotter's delight! Last year customers flew into the event just to get Rossi to sign their helmets or have Nicky welcome their kids!
We kick off the weekend Thursday night with a happy hours at our base hotel downtown. This event had the dubious honour of setting the Pole Position Travel record for per capita consumption at a happy hour! Guess the company was good...! Friday you can either come up to the track with us or take a wander around lovely Indy. Got a bike? ALL package customers may have a free track lap ticket from us for either Friday morning or Monday morning. Friday morning is also the Riders for Health day featuring live music, rider interviews and auction of MotoGP memorabilia.
Friday evening we have our traditional opening party with a special MotoGP guest, a review of the track, and great food and drink. Saturday it is up to the track for a full day of qualifiers; in the evening we have a special tour to the famous Indy Mile. Sunday to wind down from a fantastic day of racing, in the evening we have our now-traditional closing dinner in a local micro-brewery.
We feature 2 packages downtown - Superior is in a top rated 4* hotel; Deluxe features one of the top 100 hotels in the USA. All packages feature: airport pickup (extra cost on Superior), track transfers, opening party, merchandise and of course our expert guides on hand all weekend! If you thought Indianapolis was boring, think again!
