Guest Speaker

Shinichi Isoya

Shinichi Isoya
Shinichi Isoya may not be a household name amongst western motorcycle fans; but he is one of the real veterans on the Japanese racing scene: an active participant in the Japanese Superbike series, Suzuka endurance race and others. 'Crazy Sam' as he is affectionately known is well acquainted with Japanese riders and tournaments, and can share unique insights into what it is to be a motorcycle racer in the country that virtually dominates motorcycle technology and has a fanatic passion for the sport. (Typical entry list for Superbike classes exceed 40 riders!)

Event report

Grand Prix Of Japan 2009

Patrick Crawley
TO BE COMPLETED...

As usual a small event for us - but always huge fun. 15 package customers with our guide Patrick and our local Japanese Superbike rider and guide Shinichi "Crazy Sam" ensure that despite the rain all had a great time. An opening visit to the local Buddhist temple to offer a prayer for our favourite riders got things into the proper perspective. Friday night we had our traditional Japanese welcome dinner with Shinichi telling us how racing is done in the home of Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki and Yahama. Saturday featured a tour of the Honda museum (lots of time owing to the rain!) and a BBQ at the track. Sunday evening closing Teppanyaki meal and occupation of a local bar to discuss race results is becoming a tradition amongst our customers at this most exotic event - who always end up quite closely knit!
