Wow! Qatar has moved back to its original 2004 position at the end of the season! Spectacular racing under the lights! Lazy mornings by the swimming pool r in the famous souk! Great hotels! We've been here since it started in 2004!
We have been to every Qatar MotoGP since it's start in 2004 (apart from 2021 & 2022 where travel was blocked by COVID)
To see its dramatic transformation was jaw-dropping. Easily the best paddock in MotoGP, and the public area significantly expanded to new grandstands, attractions, vendors.
And of course the city itself has been seriously updated since the World Cup. Our beloved 4* hotel fr the Superior package continued to deliver superb service and of course still boasts a great bar - one of the cheapest in Doha! We used a new 5* hotel this year, The Mondrian, which was nothing short of magnificent!
Off track, we helpd our operning dinner uncharacteristically on Thursday, but that was to enable the attendance of two of our favourite riders: Brad and Darrym Binder! To have a small group audience with the brothers was amazing, not just to our South African clients! The even was facilitated by the customary insight from top MotoGP journo Simon Patterson
The racing of course was superb. Masia took the Moto3 championship; and in the MotoGP race our team Gresini scored a sensational victory with Fabio DiGiannantonio -- his maiden win!
Our team guests, few as usual for this event, had a blast visiting the little-seen corners of the track on the service road (which we had virtually to ourselves) and enjoying the incredible atmosphere of the spectacular paddock
Finally it has to be remarked that the VIP VIllage exceeded our expectations - fantastic food, free beer & wine (only place on the track you can get it!) and new viewing terraces with stunning outlooks. This is the way to go!
Can't wait for our return in 2024 - back to its traditional spot at the top of the calendar!
