Happy 2021 to all!
While the picture is far from clear, here's our thinking at Pole Position Travel regarding the ability to see the racing in person.
The situation in 2021 is both promising and disappointing. The new vaccines give us hope that we will put this pandemic behind us eventually. However with record rates of COVID-19 infections throughout much of the world, especially here in Europe, clearly the only sensible course of action is to continue to prevent large groups of people gathering.
The Preseason Test at Sepang has already been cancelled, and the travel restrictions to Qatar for the season opener in late March are so strict that we believe spectating will be too difficult if not impossible.
We have been informed by teams that guest paddock passes will not be issued indefinitely, which is expected to mean at least for the first half of the season.
So we are adjusting how we do business:
1/ We are not confirming any booking for Team Experiences (Pole Position Club or MotoGP) for the 2021 season. We WILL take requests which will be treated as reservations pending clarity on the event in question, but we cannot guarantee any in-paddock activities.
2/ We will take bookings of packaged tours, ordinary tickets and VIP/hospitality for all events in 2021. All bookings including a package or VIP/Hospitality product will require only a 15% deposit, which will be non-refundable, but transferrable to any other event. Other bookings will require a 50% deposit, under the same terms.
We will not charge the balance until the event is confirmed.
Please note that we cannot predict travel restrictions from your particular country. If this will prohibit you from attending the event, please let us know ASAP and we will attempt to refund your 2nd payment if we have not yet had to pay suppliers (or can obtain refunds).
3/ Prices for many tickets and hospitalities have not been confirmed by the suppliers, thus our prices are advisory, and the final price & payment will be adjusted once supplier costs are confirmed. However should this exceed the original estimate by more than 10% you will be permitted to cancel for full refund.
4/ We will also accept bookings for 2022, under the same provisos above.
We are champing at the bit to be able to return to watching MotoGP action in person - as we are sure you all are! Thank you for your continued patience over these times, and we can assure you that at the first event without contrary restrictions we will throw a huge party!
