In memoriam: Ian Jarvis

it is with the heaviest of hearts that we mourn the passing of friend and customer Ian Jarvis. We announce a memorial fund in his honour.

This is a very personal business and over the course of our 24 years many of our customers have crossed the line from client to friend. We often think of our community as an extended family - with many "regulars" with whom our interactions go well beyond the simple provision of service to the joy of sharing a small slice of each others' lives.

Ian Jarvis was one such. A customer of over a decade, beloved by staff and the many guests who knew him, he was generosity incarnate. He was a routine volunteer marshal at the Isle of Man TT and other moto events. He was a frequent donor to charity, especially Two Wheels for Life. He was known to help and advise newer customers drawing on his experience of about 20 events just with us, in MotoGP, WorldSBK and the Isle of Man TT.

Ian had recently retired to the village of Bédar in southern Spain - a move he had been looking forward to for years. He was engulfed in the wildfires that broke out 9 th July 2026 whilst trying to evacuate with his cats. Ian and some of his neighbours were trapped when their exit route became impassable.

I am devastated by this. I will miss Ian greatly, as will all Pole Position Travel staff and the regulars who knew him.

Ian is survived by his widow Dawn - to whom we offer our deepest condolences. We have been communicating with Dawn and have offered to create the
Ian Jarvis Memorial Fund. At her request, proceeds will be donated to Ian's favourite charity Two Wheels for Life.

(We did offer to donate to the local victim relief fund, but Dawn - with heart as big as her late husband - has already done so, as well as to the local pet charity. I am in awe.)
