Event review - British Grand Prix 2026
Silverstone is back!!
Since COVID (and Brexit) Silverstone has dropped from a consistent top 3 event to somewhere in the middle - disappointing.
But this year was the best since those bad times and it shows every sign of getting even better! Numbers were up across the board, we had about 50 team guests, Two Wheels for Life had record (post COVID) results, two of our partner teams won their races, we raised money both for charity and our sponsored rider, weather was perfect and everyone had a blast!
This had to be one of the most densely packed and successful MotoGP tours we have ever done!
Thursday, our fundraising dinner for Chloe Jones has already gathered pledges over £5000 . We had an amazing meal, she was delightful and a great addition to the team.
Friday, we sponsored the Pole Position award for the fastest overall lap in the Mini Motos competition and we presented the award to Wilson Dills (age 12)
We launched the Ian Jarvis Memorial Fund on stage with Michael Hill and donated a VIP tour to Valencia MotoGP. This raised an astounding £7200 for Two Wheels For Life. See our accompanying video of the auction and presentation.
Friday night, we invited one of the teams in the baggers competition - Joe Rascal Racing - and their rider Australian Archie McDonald who came with the team owner James. We pulled in our friend journalist Simon Patterson who got a chance to interrogate Archie and learn "everything you always wanted to know about Baggers (but were afraid to ask)"!
Absolutely brilliant evening great food and everybody loved the company. Archie was charming and hilarious. The rookie team will go on to take five of the six podiums over the weekend!
The Sprint race really showed Aprilia dominance, taking all podiums! But for us, the highlight was always going to be the Baggers Race, which was won by old friend British rider Bradley Smith - a crowd pleaser - but 2nd and 3rd position went to our Archie and his teammate Eric Granado!
Saturday we had a special evening in the paddock where we caught up with our old friend Danny Webb who was the first rider we ever sponsored back in 2006. He now runs a Moto4 team as well as a youth training school and a MotoGP recruitment website all of which are quite successful. Both new customers of ours and several of our veterans who knew Danny from way back greatly enjoyed meeting up. Our dinner at LCR Honda we were treated to a karaoke session by Jack Miller’s three-year-old daughter ha ha.! (See video)
Speaking of LCR, Fabio gave a great paddock tour and insights into a number of aspects of MotoGP, we visited the Michelin tire compound Dianese. And of course we met Cal Crutchlow!
Speaking of Chloe Jones, we donated two paddock passes which she awarded in a raffle raising more money for herself. The Lucky winners joined us on Saturday and also joined LCR Honda for lunch, garage visit and Fabio tour. Needless to say they were delighted!
There was also a brilliant rider meeting and garage tour by Cormac Buchanan, as well as tours of the Gryd/MLav Racing garage and our new partners American Racing team.
Saturday evening, we had a chat with Randy Mamola who did a short video tribute to Ian Jarvis, offering condolences and thanks to his wife Dawn.
This weekend was our first commercial offering of the American racing team experience. It was superb and the clients were delighted. We arranged for the clients to join the garage for the Moto2 race Sunday. ART was thoughtful enough to arrange a race victory for their rider Filip Salac! Needless to say there was pandemonium in the garage and we joined the podium of course! (See video)
We had clients on both the MotoGP and Moto3 start grids.
To finish the race day, we gathered as many of our Australian clients in the paddock and stormed the incredible triple podium by the Joe Rascal team and of course the winner Archie McDonald ! He did a shoey!
Never in our 24 years has a team we supported lcok out a podium!
Our closing dinner Sunday at a local Thai restaurant was great and the customers took over the lobby bar at the hotel afterwards - a sign that everyone had a great weekend!
Let's pray Silverstone keeps up this momentum for next year!
