The season opener for the first crack at the new teams and bikes. Also early enough in the year to be reasonably assured of decent weather giving you plenty of opportunity to see this incredible circuit.
Lights out of the 2023 WorldSBK season and what a thrilling and incredible way to start the year!
With a mixed bag of weather and conditions (scorching hot on Friday, pouring with rain on Saturday - Who doesn’t love the four seasons of the Island!), electrifying action-packed racing was on full display across the weekend, and oh boy, did it not disappoint! From the rain-ravaged chaos of the World Supersport Race 1, to John McPhee’s sensational hard-fought podium in his maiden WorldSSP race (and how could we not mention the cheeky Cape Barren geese) - Our guests were kept on the edges of their seats right till the flag on Sunday!
With all of our guests with our WorldSBK partner team, the Kawasaki Racing Team, Pole Position Travel was in full-on ‘Team Green’ mode!
Despite a somewhat challenging weekend on-track for KRT, the team continued to be absolutely brilliant off-track and made sure that each and every one of our guests got a taste of what it is like to be part of the championship for the race weekend! Even one of our guests had the opportunity to have a private race debriefing with Alex after his unfortunate Race 1 crash - Talk about an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience!
A small portion of our guests also enjoyed the brilliant hospitality and superb track views of the VIP Pit Lounge! With Prosecco bottles popping and fizzing left, right and centre, the lounge continues to be (in our opinion!) the top experience at the circuit! Due to our longstanding partnership with the VIP Pit Lounge, we are always delighted when our guests are seated at the best table in the suite! (No bias here at all!) With our table being situated right above the garage of Nicolò Bulega (Ducati Aruba Racing WorldSSP Team) and practically opposite the grid, our guests had a front-row seat for the thrilling chaos of the rain-affected WorldSSP race 1 (We started to lose count of the restarts), and the pit lane joy and celebrations of Bulega’s maiden WorldSSP victory!
Despite the weather hiccups here and there, Phillip Island continues to be one of our favourite circuits of the season for riveting and drama-filled racing, and we can’t wait to return for MotoGP later in the year!
